Salt/Pepper Vessels
Material
Cast Stainless Steel
White/Black Gloss Enamel
Polished Brass
A set of Cast Stainless Steel Salt and Pepper shakers. Finished in a gloss white (salt) and black (pepper) enamel with polished brass stopper.
“I challenged myself to create a seemingly simple yet refined, poetic and complex in some instances - an object that would sit quietly at the table. I wanted to create complexity through purity, by moving away from finite and measurable forms to elements of sculpture and emotion. Expressing my own ‘handwriting’ as a designer to create/sculpt these objects through a series of models.
Designed to function as a Salt/Pepper Shakers, Lukas created the vessels to be easily filled from the top through the conical opening accessed by the removal of the conical Brass ball stopper. Once filled the vessel can disperse crushed salt or pepper through the subtile horizontal slot seemingly created by pushing in the bellow material to reveal the opening. With a simple side-to-side motion and index finger on top of the Brass ball, the Vessel will dispense either salt or Pepper. ‘It is an object that subtly attracts your attention in the complexity of its simplicity.”
